These commentaries are a legacy of Peg Schneller who passed away in 2012. She produced a commentary for each Sunday of all three liturgical years. We hope that you enjoy these commentaries as much as we do.
These commentaries on the Sunday Scriptures were written by Peg Schneller, a longtime parishioner of Blessed Sacrament. The fruit of her love for both God’s Word and her growing family, this ministry began with the hope of equipping her adult children with insights into the Sunday Mass readings so that they might stay connected to the Lord and to the Catholic Church as they ventured out into the world.
Her enthusiasm was contagious, as first her family and friends, then a Young Mother’s Prayer Group, and finally others discovered the joy and depth of the Holy Word. Peg had a way of bringing the wisdom of the Church into her efforts in such an accessible way that the spiritual lives of those who encountered these materials were often enriched and deepened. In the year 2000, Peg and her husband Duke moved to Custer, SD when her husband retired from private practice in dentistry. At this time, Peg adapted her study into a written format and continued to share it via email with anyone who desired to receive it. Because of this, we have her wisdom in a written form to share with you. Peg passed away in 2012 after a long battle with cancer. Her family and those who were touched by her ministry are grateful for the opportunity to continue sharing her wisdom and knowledge with parishioners from Blessed Sacrament and others who visit our website. As you explore these commentaries, we encourage you to invite the Holy Spirit to open your heart to God’s Word and let it come alive in your heart.
